Dance hall materials for the studio floor mirrors loom illuminated

What should a dance hall be like?

A dance hall should be like, firstly, spacious and comfortable, filled with light and air, with a high ceiling, large mirrors and quality flooring. And also do not forget about the split system, which allows for group classes.

So, now everything is in order. For a dance hall, you need:

  • Flooring;
  • Mirrors;
  • Choreographic easels;
  • Mats for stretching, a cooler with water;
  • Good lighting.

Near the entrance there should be a reception desk, a sofa/3-4 chairs for clients. In the dressing rooms are benches and lockers for changing clothes. Do not forget about the teachers’ lounge.

Flooring

The floor in the dance hall should be:

  • cushioning
  • not rigid
  • not slippery

The ideal option – laying in the hall unlacquered parquet. Also suitable laminate or linoleum.

Mirrors

Mirrors should be large and on the surface of both walls, thus making the room feel more spacious and light.

Mirrors have a great advantage, they allow dancers to see in full size not only themselves, but also their neighbors. So it is easier to keep a common rhythm and coordinate their movements with their partners. In addition, a big mirror allows seeing yourself from the side and this is important when mastering new steps of the dancing skill.

For a trainer mirrors are a good way to see all students at once and to correct mistakes in time.

When choosing a mirror, you should pay attention to the details:

  • Low weight. A heavy reflective panel is difficult to move and install, it requires powerful fasteners. But most importantly – such a design is more at risk of falling off and falling, causing damage to people and other equipment.
  • Mirrors in the dance hall should give a clear, not distorted reflection.
  • It is better to choose a mirror that does not give glare.
  • Mirrors should have special notches, in which the choreographic machine will be attached.

Standard parameters of mirrors for the dance hall:

  • Height – 2 m. Height – 2 m (minimum)
  • Width – 2,5 m.
  • Thickness – 4 mm.

Ballet machines

Ballet machine (choreography) – is an essential element of any choreography class, gymnastics and dance hall, sports center or studio. A choreography machine is set for many years, being the main tool for classes, so it is necessary that it be, above all, reliable and sturdy.

There are mobile (portable) and stationary choreographic machines, which can have a wooden handrail from a variety of wood species:

  • Oak
  • Beech
  • Pine
  • Stainless steel.

The ideal choice would be a machine made of stainless polished or brushed steel, because it eventually does not corrode, in contrast to the bracket for a ballet machine made of black metal and painted with powder paint.

The standard optimum size of a ballet machine:

  • the interval between the uprights – two meters,
  • total height of 1.1 meters.

To make the handrail of the machine easy to grasp with your hand and at the same time combining high strength and flexibility, its standard diameter is 40-50 millimeters.

There are one-row and two-row choreography machines. The need for a multi-row machine is due to the fact that it is supposed to engage people of different ages. Thus, children will hold on to the lower handrail, and adults – to the upper one.

Handrail heights for the two-row dancing loom:

  • upper 1100 mm from the floor
  • lower 750 mm from the floor

Tips for choosing machines:

  • the machine can be any length, starting from 1 m. p., but the distance between the posts should not exceed 2 meters;
  • Before you choose the type of mounting of the machine, make sure the surface where you intend to mount it is secure;
  • it is desirable to carry out measurements of the room with the help of specialists.

Stretching / Fitness Mats

Why do I need a mat for my workout?

Its main function is to make your training more comfortable. It is used to protect your knees, elbows, back and head from traumatic contact with the surface. It’s supposed to provide a good grip on the surface for exercising, and it should also protect the exerciser from the cold of the floor.

Types of mats

There are several types of mats, partly they can be classified by type of material, partly by thickness and degree of softness.

According to the type of material:

  • Synthetic mats.
  • Mats of thermoplastic elastomer
  • Mats made of rubber with rubber or jute additives.
  • Hiking mats or camping mat

The ideal option for stretching (which is necessary for the dancer) will be a mat of thermoplastic-elastomer. It is more elastic and softer than pure synthetic, perfectly absorbs sweat, so there is virtually no slip between the supporting parts of the body and the surface of the material itself.

What material is best for a dance floor?

Dance floors are made of different materials, depending on the customer’s preferences and the type of dance floor they want. Let’s see what materials are used in dance floors. Wood: It is the most common material used in dance floors. Wood is a reliable material that is durable and stable. It doesn’t require any maintenance, it has a natural look, and its surface can be finished with any color or design you like. It’s not very expensive, but it does require a lot of space to install because it is heavy and needs to be nailed or glued to the floor. The disadvantage of wood is that it can be slippery when wet so you need to take care when dancing on it during rainy days. Marble: This material has been used for centuries because of its beauty and durability. Marble can also be slippery when wet, so you need to take care when dancing on it during rainy days as well. It requires more space than wood and is more expensive. It’s a good material if you want to have a luxurious feel in your dance floor.
Laminates: Laminates are lighter than other materials such as wood, marble, or steel. They are easier to install and have an attractive finish. It doesn’t require any maintenance either, but it requires less space than those mentioned above. If you want a luxurious look without the extra space, this is the best option for you!
Steel: Steel is a great material for dance floors. It doesn’t require any maintenance and has a durable look that is easy to maintain. It also has neutral colors so you won’t have to worry about matching it with the other decorations in your room. This material is more affordable than other materials such as wood or marble but it requires more space than laminates.
